Working under the supervision of the Information Systems Director, this position will work with city phone and computer equipment and various networking systems and technologies in use by Spanish Fork City in an effort to provide the best possible IT services to Spanish Fork City departments and employees.  


Maintain, troubleshoot and repair city computer systems, phone systems and internal networking equipment. Must be able to use, configure and operate HP, Cisco, and Huawei network devices. 

Configuration and maintenance of the ShoreTel phone system used by Spanish Fork City. 

Purchase and configuration of new computer equipment, surplus old computer equipment and maintain meticulous records of asset inventory. 

Train and supervise Customer Service Representatives who assist in the configuration and deployment of new computer hardware. 

Assist in designing and deploying new network infrastructure as well as maintaining and troubleshooting current networks and networking equipment. 

Must be able to respond outside of regular business hours on occasion when networking issues arise that need to be addressed. 

Work with others, including the public, with a professional positive attitude and with good communication skills.  Must be a team player. 

Performs related duties as assigned. 

Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position. Must abide by all City policies and procedures.

1.    Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years experience as an IT Technician; OR an equivalent combination of job related education/experience [substituting each one year of post secondary education/training for six months of experience]. Industry certifications preferred. 

2.    Knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, IP phones and wireless networking systems. A basic understanding of security as it pertains to network architecture, servers, firewalls and routers.

3.    Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Ability to install troubleshoot and maintain various software programs and operating systems.  

4.    Special Qualifications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and see small objects.
