This is a fill in, as needed, cook positions. The cook will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Center Food Safety Manager, a Cook will be responsible for the preparation, service and cleanup of senior center meals.
Plans and prepares regularly scheduled meals as well as banquet meals for special events.
Food preparation to include mixing, baking, and cooking using the stove, oven, large mixers and other various kitchen equipment.
Prepares well balanced menus for upcoming months making special considerations for the needs and preferences of the clientele. Prepares grocery list and orders food.
Serves meals to seniors.
Cleaning and sanitation of equipment, counters and floors.
Deep cleaning of kitchen equipment during the month of July.
Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player.
Applicants may be required to submit to a criminal background check and fingerprint report.
Other related duties as assigned.
Food handling experience preferred. Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work extra during special events. (Scheduled approximately 10-15 hours per week) Must be able to lift 50lbs. Ability to work well with other employees. Requires loving, compassionate person who is sensitive to the needs of senior citizens. Must obtain a food handlers permit.
