Under the supervision of the Wastewater Division Manager, performs general maintenance and repair at the wastewater plant and the collection system. 


Help with the Vacuum/Jet truck and Video Truck. Performs duties required in the cleaning and vacuum of collection lines or helps video’s collection lines. 

Operates light, medium and heavy equipment such as: loaders, backhoes, fork lifts Performs maintenance on assigned equipment.  Detects and reports mechanical problems with equipment to the Motor Pool Division. 

Uses hand and power tools such as: saws, grinders, air compressors, wrenches, weed trimmers, pruners, hammers, shovels and other similar equipment. 

Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled and abide by all city policies and procedures.  Must work well with others and be a team player.  Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to deal with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner in all circumstances. Must be familiar with addresses and be able to find them. 

Perform other duties as assigned. 

Applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.


Requires moderate to heavy physical activity.  Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy weights. Required to work in difficult working positions.  May have to stand, walk, or sit in uncomfortable positions for extended periods 

Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals and fumes, and prolonged high noise levels.  Often works in and around vehicular traffic.  May at times include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. 

Occupational safety and health hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions.  May be required to work unconventional work hours or shifts.


  1. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience in related work including the operation of equipment.  May be required to obtain additional training and education, equipment operation, herbicide application, confined space, chlorine use or other related work.

  1. Working knowledge of: safety rules for related equipment and tool operation and construction/maintenance work.

  1. Ability to: work in all weather extremes in wet, muddy and icy conditions and perform manual tasks for sustained periods of time; perform minor/major equipment maintenance and repairs.

  1. Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
