Under the direction of the Engineering Division Manager, will perform functions associated with the surveying, design, and drafting for City projects.
Under direct supervision of the Staff Surveyor in the Engineering Division, applicant will be required to do surveying, mapping and drafting of public utilities. Responsible to operate GPS surveying equipment, use the most current versions of AutoCAD and ESRI ArcInfo GIS software.
Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled and abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to deal with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner in all circumstances.
Perform other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials and fumes (Sewage). May be required to enter a confined space. (Sewer or Storm Manhole) Often works in and around vehicular traffic. Working with contractors around heavy equipment. May at times include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.
